Rowena “Weng” Maac
Rowena Almoete-Maac or “Weng” hails from Masbate, Masbate. She is a mother of four (4) and the loving wife of the multi-awarded Filipino visual artist, Bernardo “Bernie” Maac.
Weng used to be a plain housewife and a supportive partner of Bernie until one day she decided to start painting as a way to destress and discover herself. She was inspired by her fellow women visual artists at FAVA Inc. who recently started doing painting despite their own busy careers. She enjoyed the process of expressing herself through abstract paintings that led her to the “Still Life Series,” “Mother and Child Series” and “The Fish Series.”
Weng is a finalist of the recently concluded Sining Filipina 2024 Art competition with the theme of “Gender Equality,” organized by the Zonta Club of Makati & Environs Foundation, Inc.
