BERNARDO MAAC
Bernardo Maac (“Maac”), born on June 17, 1972, hails from Oriental Mindoro, but grew up in Balayan, Batangas. Despite his family's protest, he pursued a degree in Fine Arts at the University of the East in Manila. He also became an Illustrator for a greeting card company and a props artist at the Ever Gotesco & Isetann Malls, also in Manila.
Maac’s first works as an artist were paintings of the multi-sexual series. He is also a multi-awarded artist in numerous art competitions such as that of Shell, Philip Morris, Metrobank, GSIS, PLDT, Robinson Galleria, Napolcom, and others. He uses a palette knife for impasto effect similar to that of Van Gough's.
His current works are figures drawn and painted in complex overlapping curved lines combined with geometric forms that shape his subjects in high detailed rendering, most of which depict traditional Filipino themes--a style he calls "Rhythmic Lines." He is a devoted father to his three (3) sons and a loving husband to “Weng,” who serves as his inspiration and source of strength.
